01 — Measure with a mirror

  1. Stand about 8 inches from a mirror.
  2. Hold a millimeter ruler across your brow.
  3. Close your right eye and align the ruler's zero with your left pupil.
  4. Open your right eye and close your left.
  5. Read the millimeter number at the center of your right pupil. That number is your PD.

02 — Using your glasses

  1. Put on your glasses and focus on an object at least 20 feet away.
  2. Mark a small dot on your right lens over the object.
  3. Without moving your head, mark the same object on your left lens.
  4. Remove your glasses and measure the distance between the two dots in millimeters. That number is your PD.

03 — With a friend

  1. Look straight ahead at a distant object.
  2. Have someone measure from pupil center to pupil center using a millimeter ruler.
  3. Record the measurement. That number is your PD.

Most adult PDs range between 54–74mm.
